---- — The Oldenburg Academy girls varsity basketball team improved to 4-6 on the season with back-to-back wins against Shawe Memorial and Hauser.

The Lady Twisters defeated Shawe Memorial by a score of 42-14.

“The kids played hard,” OA head coach Dan Kerker commented. “Offensively, I don’t think either team shot well, but I am encouraged with the intensity and hustle the kids have shown.

“Defensively, I think any time you hold a team to 14 points you can’t complain. Our defensive average the last seven games has been under 40 and exactly where we need in order to put ourselves in a position to win,” headed.

The Lady Twisters put up 24 points in the first half and led by 17.

Ella Lamping led OA with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Kirsten Ricke added 10 points and four steals. Rachel Fairfield was in double figures rebounding with 10 boards.

The victory over Hauser did not come as easy.

Oldenburg Academy was a 46-43 winner.

The Lady Twisters fell behind early in the game, but battled back to tie the score by halftime.

“The kids responded well in the third to take the advantage,” Kerker commented. “I think the pressure from both teams rattled each other, but I was proud how the kids hung in down the stretch.

“They took a refuse to lose attitude. We must continue to play with the same intensity going forward getting on the floor and controlling the glass,” he added.

Lamping completed a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ricke was second on the team in scoring with 12 points. Dickman led OA with three assists and was second in rebounding with six.
