Lumbermen Start Season with 32–4 win

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Lumbermen vintage baseball team opened their 2013 campaign with a home victory over Losantiville.

The Lumbermen came out swinging and tallied five aces in the 1st inning.  They scored in every inning while the defense held the opponent to four aces on the day.  Thirteen Lumbermen crossed the dish in the seventh and eighth innings en route to a 32–4 victory.

Offensive totals for the Lumbermen were Chris “Quickhands” Casablanca  8-for-10 and 4 aces; Jeff “Blue” Bolchalk  9-for-10 and 4 aces; Chris “Chicken Wing” Wessel  6-for-8 and 5 aces; Scott “Shag” Weberding  9-for-9 and 3 aces; Dan “Wheels” Schuman  6-for-8 and 4 aces; Steve “Buzz” Shepherd  6-for-8 and 4 aces; Glenn “Red” Saler  5-for-8 and 2 aces; Scott “Cowboy” Dwenger  7-for-8 and 4 aces; and Mark “Spider” Stenger  6-for-7 and 2 aces.

The Lumbermen will next play in Indianapolis on May 18 as part of the Indianapolis Blues Fest.
