Local players earn IFCA honors

BATESVILLE — The Indiana Football Coaches Association released their academic all-state awards winners.

Area players appearing on the list include Ethan Amburgey (Greensburg), Mitchell Baker (East Central), Tim Berkemeier (East Central), Brian Frondorf (East Central),  Mike Hoeing (Batesville),  David Navarra (Greensburg), Shane Ploeger (Greensburg), Chance Schuh (East Central),  Erick Seaver (Milan), Drew Simmermeyer (Franklin County), Payton Stonefield (East Central), Brian Struewing (East Central) and Ben Wewe (Franklin County).

Criteria for the honor: The nominee must be a senior and must have played in at least 70percent of your games. He must meet the following two standards:  Have a minimum GPA of 3.40 or have a minimum SAT of 1660 or minimum ACT of 24.

Batesville High School senior Mitchell Williamson was named to the 2012 IFCA Senior 3A All-State Football Team as an offensive lineman.

Local players named to the  2012-13 Grange Insurance/IFCA Region 10 All-Star Football Trevor Meyer (East Central), Evan Fette (East Central), Aaron Perkins (Milan), Payton Stonefield (East Central), Donovan Cecil (Franklin County), Ben Wewe (Franklin County), Peter Meyers (Greensburg).

Perkins and Stonefield were also named to the Grange Insurance South All-Star team. The 2013 Grange Insurance/IFCA North-South All-Star Game- will be played on Friday, July 19, at North Central High School in Indianapolis with 7 p.m. kickoff.
