Batesville High School held its annual Super Six-Way wrestling meeton Saturday.
Participating teams included the host Bulldogs, Brown County, Knightstown, Scottsburg, Shelbyville, and Southwestern.
It was a busy day of wrestling and the Bulldogs were right in the mix for the team title.
The eventual champion Brown County Eagles handed the Bulldogs their only loss of the day by a score of 46-36. Batesville licked up wins over Shelbyville (44-30), Knightstown (43-30), Scottsburg (42-30) and Southwestern (42-36).
Four Batesville wrestlers were undefeated on the day and two other were near perfect with four victories. Ben Westerfeld (132-lbs.), Neal Nobbe (160-lbs.), Will Amberger (170-lbs.) and Jarett Hooten (195-lbs.) were a perfect 5-0 on the day. Michael Deal (113-lbs.) and Zach Strub (220-lbs.) posted four win with one loss.
John Moody (120-lbs.) was the lone BHS wrestler with three wins. Other wrestlers recording at least one victory were Nick Schneider, Chris Schene, Xavier King and Garrett Watkins.
Deal led the team in takedowns for the day with 15.
Junior varsity match winners included John Kurtz, Allen Hudepohl, and Levi Nordmeyer.
Bulldogs beat Panthers
The Bulldogs picked up their fifth win of the season by knocking off the visiting Jennings County by a score of 42-36.
Deal, Moody, Westerfeld, Nobbe, Amberger, Hooten, Strub and Watkins were all winners for coach Chris Deal.
