Lady Twisters post win at North Decatur

BATESVILLE — The Oldenburg Academy Lady Twisters scored 74 points in a three-way track and field meet at North Decatur.

The team score was 31 points better than the second placing Lady Chargers and 35 ahead of Morristown.

Not only did the Lady Twisters dominate in the distance events, they were able to pick up victories in a couple speed and field events. The Lady Twisters won a total of seven individual and two relay events.

Kirsten Ricke and Meredith Maier were two-time winners for OA. Ricke was a winner in the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump. Maier placed first in the 400- and 800-meter events.

Marissa Wroblewski crossed the finish line first in the 200-meter dash.

Sam Rohrig had a solid day, but did not come away with any blue ribbons. Rohrig second in the shot put and discus, while placing third in the 100-meter dash.

Maria Lewis added to the team score with a second in the high jump and third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Hallie Kile added a third place finish in the 400-meter run.

In the end, it was the distance events that carried the Lady Twisters to victory.

Sarah Billingsley, Rachel Billingsley and Courtney Unkrich went 1-2-3 in the 3,200-meter run.

The Billingsleys then went first and third in the 1,600-meter run. Sarah Billingsley added a third place in the 800-meters.

Oldenburg’s 3,200-meter relay team was over a minute ahead of the second placing team from Morristown. Later in the meet, the 1,600-meter team was impressived in a victory over North Decatur.
