The St. Louis seventh grade boys basketball team improve to 7-0 in the season with a 29-22 victory over the Milan Indians.
Sam Giesting and George Ritter led the Cardinals in scoring, while Kevin Salatin was the team’s leading rebounder. Alex Geers and Nathan Eckstein played solid all-round good games, according to coach Dale Amrhein.
St. Louis wins OA tourney
The Cardinals claimed the team title at the annual Oldenburg Academy basketball tournament.
St. Louis defeated St. Mary’s of Larenceburg 40-15 in the championship game.
Ritter and Giesting set the pace offensively, while Geers took charge of the team at the point guard position and played extremely well at both ends of the floor, according to Amrhein
The Cardinals opened with a convincing 52-8 victory over St. Michael’s of Brookville. Robert Raver and Charlie Prickel led the team in scoring. Ritter was the team leader in rebounding.
The team’s second win of the tournament came against St. John’s of Harrison. The Cardinals defeated St. John’s by a score of 32-23. Raver led the Cardinals in scoring.
