---- — It was a tough night on the road for the Batesville High School tennis team.
The Bulldogs suffered a 5-0 loss at New Palestine on Monday.
Nick Kirschner had the best chance of victory at No. 2 singles as the night unfolded. The BHS senior won the first set 6-4 over Connor Swain only to lose the second by the reverse score. The two players then went deep into the third set before Swain triumphed 7-5.
Henry Luchow and Blake Walsman both lost in straight sets at No. 1 and 3 singles, respectively.
Dustin Nobbe and Chris Hoseus lost at No.1 doubles as did Matt Taylor and Jacob Paul at No. 2.
The junior varsity split eight matches with New Palestine and finished in a 4-4 tie.
Paul Ritter and Harsh Patel teamed up for a pair of victories in doubles play. Brett Westerfeld and Beau Brown won in doubles, while Spencer Rose was the lone winner in singles play.
