---- — The Oldenburg Academy varsity volleyball team was an easy winner over visiting Rising Sun on Tuesday.
The Lady Twisters won in three sets 25-12, 25-20 and 25-20.
Four needed to beat SC
The Lady Twisters needed four sets to knock off the Swtizerland County Lady Pacers.
Oldenburg won the first two 25-17 and 25-20 before losing the third 25-22. The fourth set was close, but OA prevailed 26-24.
Anna Dickman had a good night at the net for the Lady Twisters. She finished with a team high 13 kills. Rachel Fairfield was close behind with 11. Setter Haylee Siegel racked up 38 assists over the four sets.
Defensively, Megan Hornberger led the team with 22 digs, while Dickman had 21.
OA wins one at tourney
The Lady Twisters went 1-2 at the Southwestern (Shelby) Invitational.
The lone win came against Indianapolis Arlington. The Lady Twisters won convincingly by the scores of 25-4 and 25-9.
Dickman controlled play at the net with nine kills in 11 attacking opportunities. Fairfield was second with four kills.
Hornberger and Elizabeth Fiutem were the team’s top servers.
Losses for the Lady Twisters came against Knightstown and Southwestern.
Knightstown needed three sets to top OA. Oldenburg won a hard-fought battle 28-26 in the first set only to drop the next two 25-21 and 15-3.
Siegel had 16 assists and led the team with 16 service attempts. Dickman again recorded a team high nine kills.
Southwestern was a 25-19 and 25-22 winners over the Lady Twisters.
Rory Bauman led the OA attack with nine kills, while Hornberger was good defensively with 13 digs. Siegel finished with a total of 19 assists.
