Lady Bulldogs lose three on courts

BATESVILLE — The Batesville High School tennis team closed last week with three teams recently ranked in the top 30.

Despite going winless in the three matches, the Lady Bulldogs held their own.

Batesville traveled to play in the Franklin Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs were defeated by Roncalli by a score of 4-1.

Emily Helvie and Ellen Heppner teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles. The senior duo defeated Emily Quill and Dezmin Bowman 2-6, 6-2 and (11-9).

Franklin edged Batesville in the second match by a score of 3-2.

Heppner picked up a straight set win at No. 1 singles. Heppner defeated Logan Jones 6-2, 6-2. Sarah Hoseus was another win for Batesville. Hoseus defeated Mary Huffine at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-1.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Bulldogs were defeated at home by Columbus East. East won all five matches in two sets.
