BHS loses in four to Jennings County

---- — The Batesville High School volleyball team played without standout Bailey Baumer and it proved difficult against a talented Jennings County squad on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs suffered a loss in four sets.

Jennings County won the first set 25-18 only to have Batesville knot the score with a 25-22 win in the second. The Lady Panthers went on to take the next two 25-13 and 25-22.

Four players - Rylee Goldsmith, Anna Meyer, Madi Oesterling and Kim Tidman - got the majority of the chances attacking at the net. Goldsmith finished with a team-high 11 kills followed by Oesterling with nine.

Setter Katie Thomas racked up 84 attempts and finished with 31 assists.

Defensively, Goldsmith and Chelsey Paul led play in the back row with 16 and 13 digs, respectively. Anna Meyer had four blocks and Alyssa Dudley added two.

The Batesville junior varsity also fell to the Lady Panthers. The two teams battled to end with Jennings posting a 15-14 victory in the third set.

Batesville won the first set of the match 25-24 before losing the second 25-14.

Josie Heidlage the attack at the net with eight kills in 20 opportunities. Avni Patel was second with three kills and led the team with six service points.
