The season just keeps getting more interesting for the Oldenburg Academy girls cross country team.
The No. 24 ranked Lady Twisters added a regional title their list of accomplishments.
Ten teams battled the rain and cold on Saturday to compete for a berth in the Carmel Semistate.
It was the Lady Twisters who managed the racing conditions the best as they finished with a team scored of 42 points to edge No. 18 Center Grove by nine points.
It was a two person race for the individual title and Oldenburg Academy senior Sarah Billingsley came out on top. Billingsley crossed the finish line in a winning time of 18:07, which was six seconds better than Greenwood freshman Alexandra Dalton.
The third place finisher was over a minute behind the two leaders.
The Lady Twisters secured the team title by placing three more runners in the top 20. Meredith Maier was eighth overall with a time of 19:28 followed by Ashley Sedler in 14th with a time of 19:55. Rachel Billingsley was 16th in 19:58.
The fifth and final scoring position for OA was occupied by junior Kirsten Ricke. Ricke was 22nd overall and 17th in scoring with a time of 20:15.
Other runners competing for Oldenburg included Haleigh Reed (32nd) and Madelyn Meier (46th).
The Batesville Lady Bulldogs placed fifth as a team and also earned a team spot in the Carmel field.
Kelsey Gausman was 21st overall with a time of 20:15 to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
Batesville senior Grace Yeaton was four places behind Gausman with a time of 20:25. Sarah Poltrack (35th), Maria Wessel (44th) and Mary Poltrack (45th) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs.
Other runners competing for BHS included Kylie Lehman (53rd) and Elizabeth Cuttle (76th).
The East Central Lady Trojans placed a distant 10th with a team score of 291. Carolyn Priebe was 65th overall in the 90 runner field with a time of 22:40.
