The Batesville High School No. 1 doubles team of Brooke Bradford and Kelli Hartman traveled to Carmel Saturday, June 7, to compete in the IHSAA individual regional competition.
The Batesville duo suffered a tough loss in two sets to Brebeuf High School juniors Mackenzie Lord and Shivalo Roa. Lord and Roa won the final two games of the first set for a 6-4 victory and followed up with a 6-3 win in the second.
“If it was not the best Brooke and Kelli have played all season, it was among the top three matches,” BHS coach Bryan Helvie commented. “They proved they were more than deserving to be playing at this level and just ran into a very good doubles team in round one.
“I was very happy with their effort and play. They finished a very good season at a high level,” he added.
Hartman and Bradford finished the season with a doubles record of 20-6.
