The Batesville High School tennis team claimed the South Dearborn Sectional title with a 4-1 victory over the Oldenburg Academy Lady Twisters May 24, according to coach Bryan Helvie.
The Lady Bulldogs were winners in two of the three singles matches and both doubles.
Batesville junior Lydia Olsen defeated Molly Rippe at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Olsen improved to 20-3 on the season with the victory.
Allyson Ritter (18-5) triumphed at No. 3 singles over Ashley Sedler 6-0 and 6-2.
Kelli Hartman and Brooke Bradford teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles. Bradford and Hartman defeated Oldenburg’s Ella Lamping and Claire Dickey 6-3 and 6-3. Hartman and Bradford moved to 17-5 with the win.
Macy Simon and Karsen Worthington were winners at No. 2 doubles. Worthington and Simon knocked off Ivy Glaser and Margaret Glaser in straight sets 6-1 and 6-4.
The lone Oldenburg Academy victory came at No. 1 singles. Sarah Wilder beat Sarah Hoseus by the scores of 6-3 and 6-3.
The Lady Bulldogs earned a berth in the sectional finals with a 5-0 victory over East Central High School one night earlier.
Hoseus defeated Laura Kuebel at No. 1 singles 6-1 and 6-0.
Olsen bested Alexis Lamberdines at No. 2, while Ritter was a winner in two sets over Sophia Imeroni at No.3.
Hartman and Bradford were winners at No. 1 doubles over Alyssa DeFiglio and Abby Ashton. Worthington and Simon needed three sets to beat Gwen Kern and Morgan Weber at No. 2, according to Helvie.
