The Batesville High School tennis team opened sectional play with a 5-0 victory over the host South Dearborn Lady Knights, according to coach Bryan Helvie.

The match was played over two nights because of stormy weather Wednesday, May 21.

Hoseus defeated Shelbi Yoe 6-3 and 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Olsen was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Carley Ochs at No. 2, while Ritter triumphed 6-0 and 6-0 over Brianna Johnson at No. 3.

One night later, Kelli Hartman and Brook Bradford teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles, while Macy Simon and Karsen Worthington won at No. 2.

Oldenburg Academy dropped its baseball season record to 11-9 with a 10-3 loss at Seton Catholic High School in Richmond May 21, reported coach Doug Behlmer.

Cory Schuman was 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Nick Bischoff was on base three times with a hit, walk and was hit by a pitch. He scored once.
