The Batesville Lady Bulldogs suffered an 18-3 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at Greenfield-Central.
After scoring one run in the top of the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs gave up nine in the bottom half. Five more Lady Cougar runs in the second and four in the third were too much to overcome.
Katie Thomas had a pair of hits and scored two times to lead BHS on offense. Hannah Putnam had the team’s only other hit and drove in two runs.
The outcome was the same in the second game, but margin of defeat was much less. The Lady Cougars defeated Batesville by a score of 14-6.
The Lady Bulldogs scored three times in the first inning to take an early lead. It was close most of the way until the bottom of the sixth. Batesville trailed 8-6 before giving up six runs.
Offensively, Rebecca Roell drove in a pair of runs. Roell singled in the first inning and tripled in the sixth to score runs. Thomas had two hits and scored twice along with Roell. Kylie Paul had the only other hit.
