The Oldenburg Academy varsity baseball team split a doubleheader in Osgood against the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles.
The Twisters suffered a 5-2 loss in the first game, but bounced back to take the second by a score of 11-8.
The Eagles trailed 2-0 in the first game then countered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. It proved to be more than enough for victory.
Nick Bischoff, Corey Schuman, Tanner Alley and Tyler Hesselbrock each had one hit in the opener for the Twisters.
The second was better for Oldenburg.
They opened up with three runs in the first inning and later added a fourth in the third. Unforturnately, the Eagles scored eight runs over the first three innings to take a 8-4 lead.
The Twisters did not falter. Coach Doug Behlmer’s crew followed up with four runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth to take the lead. They added two more in the top of the sixth inning.
Josh Kinker had a good game at the plate with three hits and pair of runs scored. Schuman and Drew Kloepfer each had two hits, while Alley, Matty Hurm and Bryce Ahaus each had one.
Schuman pitched the first four innings and recorded the victory. Tyler Hogg pitched in relief and was credited with the save.
Oldenburg is now 1-2 on the season.
