The Batesville High School boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Greensburg to compete against the host Pirates and East Central.
The Lady Bulldogs were the overall champions by just over 30 points. Batesville finished with 81 points, which was 31 better than East Central and well ahead of Greensburg (37).
The boys took a split victory as EC led the way with 94.5 points compared to Batesville’s 54.5, which outscored Greensburg’s 17.
Batesville was victorious in only four out of 16 events for the boys and the girls were successful in nine out of 16.
Ginny Westerfeld, Kelsey Gausman, Rylee Goldsmith and Kim Tidman were all multiple winners for the Lady Bulldogs.
First place finishers for the Bulldogs were Nathan Longstreth (high jump), Michael Tunny (400m dash), Matt Dennis (300 hurdles), Tidman (long jump and high jump), Ginny Westerfeld (100m and 200m dash), Goldsmith (400m dash) and Gausman (800m and 1600m run).
Both Batesville 4 x 800 relay teams were victorious. The boys team consisted of Cole Nuhring, Calvin Lehman, Connor Bell and Garrett Yorn, while the girls were represented by Mary Poltrack, Sarah Poltrack, Grace Yeaton and Gausman. The girls 4 x 400 team of Ginny Westerfeld, Clare Bruns, Gausman and Goldsmith placed first as well.
Second place finishers for Batesville were Tom Chaffee (high jump) and Goldsmith (high jump), Jordan Moorman (discus), Tanner Ayette (100m dash), Grace Yeaton (3200m and 800m run) and Cassie Reverman (shot put).
The 4 x 100 teams of Ayette, Zach Mears, Jacob Koehne and Tunny were runner-up for boys. Michaela Westerfeld, Tidman, Sophie Meadows and Ginny Westerfeld were same in the girls race.
The BHS boys 4 x 400 of John Moody, Connor Bell, Dennis and Tunny were second.
