Weather slowed the start of the game, but once the Batesville American Legion Post 271 baseball team warmed up the outcome was never in jeopardy.
Post 271 knocked off Moores Hill Post 209 by score of 14-1 at Liberty Park. Batesville scored two runs in the second inning and three in the third to stretch the lead to 5-1. A six run fourth inning virtually sealed the victory. Batesville later added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Batesville racked up 14 hits against the Moores Hill pitching. Wyatt Schebler led the way with three hits, while Taylor Kopplin, Leo Enneking and Justin Laswell each had two. Aaron Petro scored a team-high three times. Kopplin, Corey Reynolds and Jon Drew each scored twice.
Reynolds got the start on the mound and pitched all seven innings. He gave up just two hits and a lone run in the third inning.
Post 271 is now 3-2 on the season and will next be in action on Saturday when they host St. Leon at Liberty Park. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
