The Batesville High School track team had eight individuals qualify and go to the Midwest Prep Track and Field Meet at Lawrence Central High School.
The Batesville athletes competing were Ginny Westerfeld, Andy Nolan, Rylee Goldsmith, Kelsey Gausman, Kim Tidman, Cassie Reverman and Courtney McCray. Also, the girls 4 x 100-meter relay team of Emily Meer, Tidman, Goldsmith and Westerfeld.
The athletes to participate in this meet must have met a qualifying stadard at the end of last season or the beginning of this one. There were athletes from not only Indiana, but Michigan and Illinois as well. Over all there were just under 600 athletes representing 35 different schools.
“I am proud to say that several of our Bulldogs faired well in thier event,” BHS coach Lisa Gausman commented.
Starting off the day in the field events Cassie Reverman medaled by placing 8th in the shot put. Goldsmith and Tidman medaled in the high jump placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the running events, Westerfeld qualified in the finals for the 100-meter dash and placed an impressive sixth, while Gausman finished fifth in the 1600-meter run. Just missing out on placing in the top eight were Goldsmith in the 400 and McCray in the discus - both placed 10th. The 4 x 100 team recording a time finishing ninth.
