The Batesville High School softball team picked up a key win in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference.
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Aurora and left with a 2-1 victory over the South Dearborn Lady Knights.
Batesville scored two runs in the top of the first inning and made them hold up with good pitching and solid defense.
South Dearborn scored their only run in the bottom of the first, which left the final six innings as a defensive battle.
The Lady Knights recorded two more hits than Batesville. The Lady Bulldogs managed four hits. Morgan Kain led the way with three hits and one run scored. Meg Liter had the other hit and run.
Sam Miller pitched for the Lady Bulldogs and did not give up an earned run. Miller did allow six hits over seven innings, while striking out two.
BHS falls to East Central 5-2
Unfortunately, things did not get any easier for the Lady Bulldogs three days later when they visited St. Leon.
The Lady Trojans scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 5-2 victory.
Batesville scored two times in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Morgan Dreyer drove in both runs with a single. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Kain and Savanna Volz.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the night with 11 hits - two more than the Lady Trojans. In addition to her two-run single, Dreyer had a single in the fourth and double in the seventh. Miller also had three hits in the loss, including a double.
