Lady Twisters too much for Dearborn County teams

BATESVILLE — The Oldenburg Academy girls tennis team picked up where it left off last season as one of the top teams in the area.

The Lady Twisters opened the season with victories over South Dearborn (5-0) and Lawrenceburg (5-0).

Senior Gretchen Wilder blanked South Dearborn’s Shelbie Yoe 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Sister Sarah Wilder was equally as impressive at No. 2 singles with a 6-1 and 6-0 victory over Rae Luhrson.

Ivy Glaser completed the singles sweep with a 6-4 and 6-2 victory over Carissa Flanagan.

The Lady Twisters were also winners at both doubles positions. Claire Dickey and Ella Lamping teamed up for victory at No. 1 as did Hannah Hanauer and Anya Smith at No. 2.

The outcome was similar against the Lady Tigers.

The Wilders both won in straight sets. Gretchen triumphed 6-1 and 6-1 over Jackie Schnornick, while Sarah cruised 6-0 and 6-1 against Sydney Romines.

Dickey stepped into the No. 3 singles position as defeated Kelly Gressner 6-3 and 6-0.

Glaser and Lamping tallied a 6-0 and 6-1 win over Alyssa Brooks and Amanda Oliver at No. 1 doubles. Hanauer and Smith were easy 6-1 and 6-1 winners against Cera Hutchinson and Cheyenne Younger.
