---- — After fourteen consecutive SEISA championships, the Batesville Stingrays were unable to bring home a win for a record 15th time.

The Milan Swim Team earned the trophy on Tuesday at Greensburg High School. Batesville missed the mark by less than 400 points. Milan won with 2,209 points followed by Batesville (1,862),Decatur County (1,795), Hidden Valley (974), South Dearborn (784), and Madison (623).

“I give Milan a ton of credit for working so hard at putting together a team that is very competitive,” commented head coach Mike Weiler. “ They have set the bar really high and I believe teams are going to be required to be on their ‘A’ game if they are to beat them. I believe with additional pool time and a year around program, we could do just that.”

The meet was not a total loss. “Of the 270 individual swims, we had 125 personal best times,” Weiler commented. “I don’t believe any other team on our conference can say they had that type of improvement in one meet.

“It really goes to show what kind of program our summer swim team is and will continue to be for a very long time.” Weiler added.

The Stingrays celebrated their successes at their annual banquet which took place in the Batesville Middle School commons last week.
