The Batesville High School boys track and field team placed second at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet with a team score of 133 points. The host East Central Trojans won the team title with 163 points. Greensburg (71.5) was a distant third followed by Franklin County (61.5), South Dearborn (45) and Lawrenceburg (18).
The Bulldogs had three invididual conference champions.
Peter Heil was a two-time winner for coach Gausman and the Bulldogs. Heil won the 300-meter hurdles (42.93) and long jump (18’11”).
Gunter Jones won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.58, while Bryce Timonera claimed victory in the shot put with a distance of 46’5”.
Jones added a second place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Garrett Yorn was runner up in the 1,600-meter run as was Tom Chaffee in the high jump.
Heil, Cole Nuhring, Michele’ Genoni and Yorn placed second in the 4 x 800-meter relay as did the 4 x 400-meter team of Heil, John Moody, Genoni and Michael Tunny.
Third place honors went to Andy Nolan (100m dash and 200m dash), Tunny (400m dash), Nathan Longstreth (high jump) and Ben Westerfeld (pole vault).
Fourth place finishers were Yorn (800m run), Diego Osante (pole vault) and Nolan (long jump).
