---- — The Batesville American Legion Post 271 baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a trio of game before heading into the sectional tournament.
Batesville dropped a pair of close games to Brookville and another to Madison.
Post 271 recorded four more hits than their opponent, but suffered an 8-5 loss to Brookville.
Jon Drew, Leo Enneking, and Justin Laswell each had two hits. Nick Kirschner, Wyatt Schebler and Ben Summers each had one.
The key inning proved to be the fifth. Brookville trailed 2-1 before scoring six times to take the lead. Batesville added two in the seventh and one in the eight, but could not get caught up.
Two days earlier, Brookville shut out Post 271 by a score of 5-0.
Logan Linkmeyer had a pair of hits and Enneking had one to account for the team’s only hits.
After losing big to Madison earlier in the season, Batesville bounced back with a solid effort despite a 12-4 loss.
Post 271 finished with eight hits. Laswell (2) was the only player with more than one. Other hits were recorded by Schebler, Drew, Enneking, Bryton Rogers, Ben Wilson and Jacob Wilson.
