Twisters lose to Union County 57-28

The Oldenburg Academy boys varsity basketball team traveled to Liberty to battle the Union County Patriots.

The Patriots posted their fourth win in a row by knocking off the visiting Twisters by a score of 57-28. Union County's only loss of the season came in the season opener to Connersville.

The game started slow at the offensive end for both teams. The Twisters managed only five points, but it was enough to take a two point lead through the first eight minutes.

The pace picked up in the second quarter for the Patriots. Unfortunately, it did not for Oldenburg. Union County outscored coach Gary Moorman's squad 14-5 to take a seven point lead into halftime.

The Twisters lost a little more ground in the third quarter, but still was within reach at 28-19 headed into the final stanza.

It was the the finish the Twisters had hoped.

Union County poured in 29 points compared to only nine from OA.

Cory Schuman hit a trio of 3-pointers to lead Oldenburg in scoring with nine points. Matt Moorman and Matty Hurm were each held to five points apiece.

Hunter Miller set the pace for Union County with 15 points. He scored eight of the team's 14 points in the second quarter.

The Twisters did not attempt a free throw in the game, while the Patriots converted 13-of-22 tries.

The loss dropped the Twisters to 1-2 on the season. They will next be in action Friday night when they travel to Milan. The Indians will enter the game 2-1 with victories over North Decatur and South Decatur.
