Despite the heat, there was an impressive turnout for the 2014 Southeastern Indiana YMCA Music and Arts Festival 5K Walk/Run June 18 at Liberty Park.
“Ninety-one participants of all ages completed the 3.1-mile route, with many more cheering them on as they crossed the finish line,” reported community outreach coordinator Kathleen Bohman.
Troy Davis crossed the line first in 17:37.2 and was No. 1 in the 35-49 male age group.
“Everyone came out a winner,” Bohman noted, but these athletes also left with medals for speed in their age brackets:
Males: Drew Kersey, 24:00.6, 11-14 age group; Cole Nuhring, 19:34.1, 15-24 age group; Ryan Holtkamp, 20:10.0, 25-34 age group; and Greg Wilson, 23:01.2, 50-70 age group.
Females: Maria Lopez, 29:05.7, 11-14 age group; Erica Crouch, 26:43.4, 15-24 age group; Beth Holtkamp, 25:03.0, 25-34 age group; Angie Price, 27:07.0, 35-49 age group; and Liz Lattire, 32:48.3, 50-70 age group.
SIY executive director Angie Johnson said, “Becca Haugh, our wellness coordinator, and David Hoover, our senior program director, did a great job planning the event for the community. We are always excited each year to partner with the community and kick off the Music and Arts Festival with our 5K event.”
