---- — The Bulldogs and Twisters were among 10 teams battling the challenging weather conditions at the Greensburg cross country regional on Saturday.

Neither Batesville High School or Oldenburg Academy finished in the top five to advance as a team, but individually the Twisters will be represented at the Carmel Semistate.

Oldenburg freshmen Curtis Eckstein and Justin Fledderman each placed in the top 10 from schools not qualifying as a team.

Eckstein was the first underclassman to complete the 5K course. He placed eighth overall behind seven seniors. The OA runner crossed the finish line in a time of 16:44.

Fledderman will join Eckstein as he placed 21st overall with a time of 17:14.

The Twisters finished eighth as a team with a score of 173 points.

Isaiah Frey was the third OA runner to finish and did so in 56th. Jared Hasselbring (65th), Luke Wukusick (68th), Chris Nurrenberg (84th) and Gabe Frey (85th) also competed for the Twisters.

The Bulldogs finished in ninth place with a team score of 204.

Caleb Moster was the to finisher for coach Thomas Barnett. The BHS freshman was 32nd overall with a time of 17:49.

Nine places behind Moster was teammate Cole Nuhring. Nuhring posted a time of 18:04.

Connor Bell (49th), Calvin Lehman (66th) and Trent Barnett (80th) rounded out the team scoring for the Bulldogs. Garrett Yorn (83rd) and Connor Lunsford (87th) rounded out the field of competitors for Batesville.

“Caleb (Moster) ran this race very aggressively and did not allow a very fast field to intimidate him,” Barnett noted. “Though we wished our season continued on, we are proud of the many goals we accomplished this season and the dedication of the runners.”

The East Central Trojans placed 10th in the team standings. They were led by Shay Roepke and Zachary Noble in 52nd and 53rd place, respectively.

The South Dearborn Knights will represent the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference. The Knights placed third behind Franklin Community and Shelbyville.
