Twisters net two more victories

BATESVILLE —

The Oldenburg Academy boys varsity basketball team picked up a pair of nice wins over the weekend.

The first came on Friday night when the Twisters traveled to Osgood to face the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles.

The Twisters posted a 57-48 victory over the Eagles.

Matt Moorman scored eight points in the first quarter as OA jumped out to an early 13-11 lead. Jac-Cen-Del sophomore Evan Borgman countered with eight points to help keep the game close.

Oldenburg managed to build a seven point lead by halftime. Five points apiece by Kurt Sarringhaus and Drew Kloepfer sparked the Twisters.

The Eagles bounced back with a better third quarter. They outscored the Twisters 14-7 to knot the score at 34-34.

Kloepfer hit a trio of 3-pointers and Matty Hurm went 7-for-7 from the free throw line over the final eight minutes to guide the Twisters to victory.

Moorman and Kloepfer each scored 16 points, while Hurm and Sarringhaus added 15 and 10, respectively.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Borgman with 16 points and Allen Hooton with 14.

The Twisters followed up one night later with a 63-43 victory over Indiana Math and Science Academy.

Oldenburg led by six points at the end of the first quarter, but IMSA crept  back into by halftime. The Twisters led by a slim 30-28 margin at the midway point.

Moorman scored half of his game-high 20 points in the second half to help propel the team to victory.

The Twisters improved to 9-5 after starting the season just 1-4. Indiana Math and Science dropped to 3-13.
