Bulldogs roll past North Decatur 77-50

The Batesville Bulldogs notched their ninth win of the season on Friday.

The host Bulldogs set the tone early and went on to post a 77-50 victory over the North Decatur Chargers.

Coach Aaron Garrett's crew jumped out to an 18-9 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs stepped it up on the defensive end in the second quarter and held the Chargers to only six points. Their own points were accumulating at a much quicker pace. The Bulldogs scored 25 over the eight minutes and took a 43-15 lead into the halftime break.

Bryan Hoeing and Wes McKinney helped the Bulldogs get off to a good start. Hoeing scored 12 first half points, while McKinney gave them a boost with 11 in the second quarter. Matt Dennis was solid off the bench with nine points.

The Chargers outscored the Bulldogs 35-34 in the second half, but it was not near enough to overcome the large deficit.

Hoeing and McKinney led all scorers in the game with 19 points apiece. Dennis finished in double figures with 11 points.

North Decatur was led in scoring by Luke Badgley with 14 points and Dayne Lecher with 13.

The Bulldogs improved to 9-3 on the season, while the Chargers dip to 3-8.

Bulldogs win JV contest by 21

The Bulldogs were victorious in the junior varsity contest by a score of 45-24.

The game remained close in the first half with the Bulldogs leading 17-15 at halftime.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were better in the second half and it was reflected on the scoreboard. North managed only five points in the third quarter and nine for the half.

Meanwhile, Batesville scored 14 in each six minute period to pull away.

Garrett Burkhart set the pace for the Bulldogs. The freshman guard scored 15 points, including a 4-of-4 effort from the free throw line.

Austin Prickel and Jacob Vogelsang each had nine points.

North Decatur was led in scoring by Luke Perdue with nine points.
