OA swimmers travel to Madison

BATESVILLE —

The Oldenburg Academy girls swim team placed second at Madison.

The host Lady Cubs were victorious with a team score of 308 points, which was 42 better than the Lady Twisters. Scottsburg was third with 231 points followed by Switzerland County with 149.

Caroline Storms and Mikaela Fangman were individual event winners for OA.

Storms led the Lady Twisters with a first place finish in the 100 yard freestyle and a second place in the 200 individual medley. Fangman was first in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Second place honors went to  Erica Geers (100 butterfly) and Elaine Welage (100 backstroke).

The 200 Medley relay of Meredith Maier, Fangman, Geers and Storms) placed second as did the 200 Free relay (Meredith Maier, Madelyn Maier, Geers and Storms).

OA boys place fourth

The Oldenburg Academy boys placed fourth at Madison.

Madison was the team champion with a score of 293 points followed by Scottsburg with 245. Switzerland County was third with 222, which was 26 ahead of the Twisters.

John Pelzel recorded a pair of first place honors. Pelzel won the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

He was joined by Jeremy Kelnhofer, Liam Mungcan and Chris Nurrenberg on the second placing 200 free relay team.
