Twisters notch win over International

The Oldenburg Academy boys varsity basketball team got the chance to play at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday.

The Twisters took advantage of the opportunity and picked up a 53-50 victory over the Indianapolis International Gryphons.

The first two quarters went by with little resistance from the Gryphons. The Twisters led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter and later 28-12 at halftime.

It just took International a little bit longer to get warmed up.

The Gryphons started hitting shots from the perimeter and found themselves in a much better position to begin the final eight minutes. International outscored the Twisters 21-10 and trailed by five points at the end of the third quarter.

The Twisters did just enough to hold on for the victory.

Oldenburg guard Matty Hurm helped keep things together offensively with six of the team's 15 fourth quarter points. Matt Moorman added four points over the final eight minutes.

Ari Lowinsky led the International attack in the second half. Lowinsky was 6-of-7 from 3-point range in the second half and finished with 20 points.

For the game, International was 11-of-18 from the beyond the arc.

Moorman led the Twisters with 14 points and five assists. Hurm added 11 points, while Drew Kloepfer added 10. Ted Geis had a big game under the basket with  team-high 14 rebounds.

The Twisters continued to do a good job with efficiency at the offensive end.  Oldenburg finished the game with only three turnovers.

The Twisters improved to 6-5 on the season, while International fell to 2-10.
