Lady Bulldogs win Cougar Challenge

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs competed in the Greenfield-Central Cougar Challenge volleyball tournament.

They did not just compete, but came away with the first place trophy.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Bloomington South 25-22 and 25-21 in the gold pool to finish at the top of the nine team field. Batesville later lost in three sets to Greenfield-Central by the scores of 25-23, 15-25 and 12-15, but because of tie-breakers were crowned champions.

In pool play earlier in the day, the Lady Bulldogs were winners over Mt. Vernon (25-14 and 25-19) and Plainfield (25-22 and 25-16).

Bailey Baumer and Rylee Goldsmith both had good days for the Lady Bulldogs and were named to the all-tournament team by the coaches. Baumer was selected at the tournament Most Valuable Player.
