Bulldogs and Trojans play to scoreless tie

It was not a win, but it was not a loss either.

The Batesville High School junior varsity soccer team remained undefeated after a scoreless draw at home against the East Central Trojans.

Batesville came into the game on a three game winning streak against tough opponents, according to coach Josh Meyer.

“The Trojans applied early pressure to our midfield and defense,” Meyer noted. “And we struggled to find our usual rhythm.”

Keeper Brandon Rose was forced to make an early save to prevent a Trojan score.

The created some chances in the last five minutes of the first half, but none of them truly threatened the EC keeper, according to Meyer.

The defensive back line, which was led by Michael Tunny and Kollin Macke, turned away any opportunities that the Trojans created.

“This was not a great performance by our team,” Meyer commented. “Many of the things we have done well all season seemed to be forgotten in this game.

“The defense did a solid job, especially Michael Tunny who had an outstanding game. We will move on from this and look to get back on track in the next game,” he added.
