BHS runners race at Connersville

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs kept their winning streak alive in girls cross country.

Batesville placed first at the Connersville Invitational by 10 points over the host Lady Spartans.

Kelsey Gausman placed first in the field of 76 runners.

Also placing in the Top 15 for the Lady Bulldogs were Mary Poltrack (5th), Sarah Poltrack (6th) and Grace Yeaton (15th). Rounding out the top seven runners for coach Lisa Gausman were Kylie Lehman (22nd), Breanna Hartman (28th) and Liz Cuttle (39th).

In the junior varsity race, Batesville placed six runners in the Top 10.

Katie Baumer was second overall with a personal record time followed by Destini Taylor-Fathman (4th), Kelsey Forbeck (6th), Jamie Day (7th), Heidi Shaw (8th) and Pilar Bermejo Garcia (9th).

The Batesville boys team placed second in the 10-team field with a score of 75 points. South Dearborn was first with 33, while Hagerstown fell in behind the Bulldogs with 90.

“This was another solid race for us,” BHS coach Thomas Barnett commented. “We are still chasing after our tough conference foe (South Dearborn).

“Our pack is still sorting itself out, but we continue to head in the right direction,” he added.

The Bulldogs were led by Cole Nuhring in seventh place with a time of 18:01.

Caleb Moster was 10th overall with a time of 18:12,while Garrett Yorn (18:19) and Connor Bell (18:21) finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

Alex Batta (35th), Peter Heil (42nd) and Calvin Lehman (43rd) rounded out the top seven runners for the Bulldogs.

In the junior varsity race, Clay Yeaton was the top Bulldog finisher in third place. Trent Barnett was fifth followed Connor Lunsford (12th) and Elliot Main (21st).

Moster, Bell and Yeaton all had personal best times for the Bulldogs.
