The Batesville High School varsity volleyball team made short work of the Rushville Lady Lions.
The Lady Bulldogs were winners in three sets by the scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-17.
Batesville served with just over 90-percent accuracy. Rylee Goldsmith led the way with 13 service points followed by Madi Oesterling with nine.
Bailey Baumer returned as a force at the net and finished with 16 kills. Goldsmith was second on the team with nine.
Defensively, Josie Heidlage, Kim Tidman, Oesterling and Baumer controlled play around the net. Heidlage had three solo blocks and one assist, while the other three added one solo and one assist apiece.
The BHS junior varsity was impressive in victory as well. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Rushville in three sets 25-14, 23-25 and 15-5.
Sophia Fledderman and Meg Reidy set the pace at the service line with 12 points each, while Kylie Paul recorded a team high six kills in 16 attempts.
Layken Capliner and Sydney Strickland anchored the defensive effort with nine digs apiece.
Lady Bulldogs 2-2 at Ben Davis
The Lady Bulldogs hit the road for an invitational at Ben Davis in Indianapolis.
Batesville managed to place third in the 9-team field. The defeated Zionsville and Jennings County in pool play.
The Lady Bulldogs were 17-25, 26-24 and 15-13 winners over Zionsville and 25-16, 20-25 and 15-11 winners over the Lady Panthers.
Batesville later lost to the top-ranked team in Class 2A. Providence won in two sets 25-6 and 25-20. The other loss came to Ben Davis by scores of 25-23, 15-25 and 13-25.
