BATESVILLE — The No. 1 ranked Greensburg Pirates defeated the Batesville Bulldogs 62-55 in boys basketball Saturday night in front of a near sellout crowd at BHS.
The Bulldogs led by six points at the end of the first quarter only to see the Pirates come back and lead 31-25 at halftime.
The Bulldogs got out to a fast start and led 19-9 at one point in the first quarter.
The Pirates went on a 16-2 run and later led by six at halftime.
The offensive struggles continued for the Bulldogs in the third quarter. They managed only eight points and trailed 43-33 at the end of the third quarter.
Batesville junior Bryan Hoeing led all scorers with 27 points. Kassidy Kase and Nathan Longstreth each had nine points.
The Pirates were led in scoring by Sean Sellers with 17 points followed by Ryan Welage with 16.
The Greensburg junior varsity defeated Batesville 50-43.
Peyton Buening led a balanced Greensburg attack with 15 points. Drew Foster was second on the team with 12, while Chandler Deaton finished with 11.
Batesville got a team-high 17 points from Wyatt Schebler followed by Jacob Vogelsang with 10.
