It has been quite a summer for one Batesville High School baseball player.
Batesville junior Bryan Hoeing was selected to play in the East Coast Professional Showcase in Syracuse, New York. The showcase will be held July 31 through August 3. The selection process began with an invitation-only northern workout held in Akron on June 11.
From there, scouts from eight different Major League Baseball teams conducted workouts for players in the southern region as well. At its conclusion, a 25-player team was selected to play four games against other teams in the eastern half of the United States.
The showcase's objective is for Major League Baseball scouts to form six teams with the most talented high school underclassmen from their prospective regions. Hoeing is one of five underclassmen from Indiana chosen to play in the showcase and one of just two 2015 graduates on the 25-player roster. The others are 2014 graduates from the states of Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
