Lady Spartans edge BHS for team title

The Connersville Lady Spartans edged the Lady Bulldogs by three points to claim the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference team title on their home course Tuesday.

Batesville fell just short with a team score of 45 points. Greensburg was a distant third with 73 points followed by South Dearborn (88) and East Central (128).

“They all had great races and I am so proud of them, but Connersville also ran very well,” BHS coach Lisa Gausman commented. “I told several tonight, at the end of the race, if you crossed that line and felt like you gave all you could give, well, there is nothing else anyone could ask.”

The top 15 runners received all-conference recognition.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by senior Grace Yeaton in third place with a personal best time of 20:47.

Freshmen Mary Poltrack and Sarah Poltrack were not far behind their teammate. Mary was sixth overall with a time of 21:22, while sister Sarah was seventh in 21:23.
