Bulldogs win tennis sectional

The Batesville Bulldogs were favored to win a fourth consecutive tennis sectional title.

And did so with relative ease.

Not only is it the fourth straight title, but it is more impressively the 21st in the past 22 years.

The Bulldogs defeated the Milan Indians by a score of 5-0 in the championship on Saturday at South Dearborn High School.

Henry Luchow, Nick Kirschner and Blake Walsman were all straight set winners in singles play against the Indians.

Luchow led the way with a 6-0 and 6-2 win over Cooper Wade at No. 1 singles, while Kirschner defeated Logan Alloway 6-4 and 6-0 at No. 2.

The No. 1 doubles team of Chris Hoseus and Dustin Nobbe won in two sets as did the No. 2 team of Matt Taylor and Jacaob Paul.

The Bulldogs earned a berth in the finals with a 5-0 win over South Dearborn.

Luchow and Kirschner were easy winners at the top two positions. Walsman defeated Adam Dreihaus 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 3.

Hoseus and Nobbe beat Ryan Howell and Keaton Ballart 6-0 and 6-1. Paul and Taylor defeated Kyle McGaha and Blake Dreihaus by the same scores at No. 2.

The Bulldogs improved to 14-7 on the season and will play at the Richmond Regional on Tuesday.
