---- — Oldenburg Academy freshman Curtis Eckstein chased Jennings County’s Jonah Woods much of the race and to the finish line. The end result was a second place finish for Eckstein at the annual Greensburg cross country invitational.
Woods won the individual title with a time of 16:35 and led his team to the team victory as well.
Eckstein was second overall with a time of 16:50.
Oldenburg Academy teammate Justin Fledderman was two places behind Eckstein with a time of 17:25.
The strong finish from Eckstein and Fledderman helped guide the team to a second place spot in the team competition.
The Twisters finished with a team score of 80 points, which was just 11 off the pace set by the Panthers. Connersville was third with 94 followed by Batesville with 108.
Joining Eckstein and Fledderman in OA’s team score was Isaiah Frey, Jared Hasselbring and Luke Wukusick. Frey was 18th overall with a time of 18:40, while Hasselbring crossed 28th with a mark of 19:14. Wukusick was 31st.
Other runners for the Twisters were Gabe Frey (42nd) and Chris Nurrenberg (52nd).
The Bulldogs had a pair of runners compete in the Top 15 at the race.
Cole Nuhring was the top finisher for coach Thomas Barnett’s squad. Nuhring was seventh overall with a time of 18:02. Caleb Moster was second on the team in 11th and a time of 18:19.
Trent Barnett (26th), Clavin Lehman (33rd) and Alex Batta (34th) rounded out the top five finishers for the Bulldogs. Peter Heil was right behind Batta followed by Connor Lunsford in 66th.
The East Central Trojans were fifth in the 11-team field. They were led by Shay Roepke in 13th place and a time of 18:24.
