---- — The Batesville tennis team competed in the Whiteland Invitational on Saturday and came home with a 1-2 record.
Batesville defeated Jennings County in the opening match by a score of 5-0.
In singles, winners were Henry Luchow, Nick Kirschner and Beau Brown. The doubles teams of Dustin Nobbe and Blake Walsman, and Jacob Paul and Brett Westerfeld were also winners.
In the second match, Batesville was defeated by Shelbyville 4-1. Walsman was the lone winner at No. 3 singles.
In the final match of the day, Whiteland defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 5-0.
Batesville is now 11-6 on the season.
Bulldogs perfect in EIAC
The Bulldogs capped a perfect mark Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference by knocking off the Rushville Lions.
The Bulldogs secured the conference team title with a 5-0 victory on the road in Rushville.
The Bulldogs were straight set winners in all five matches.
Nobbe defeated Jake Fowler 6-1 and 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Chris Hosues beat Paul Hersberger 6-3 and 6-3 at No. 2. Walsman gave the Bulldogs a clean sweep of singles play with a 6-0 and 6-0 win over Will Hogsett.
Luchow and Kirschner won at No. 1 doubles as did Paul and Matt Taylor at No. 2.
