Pirates, Bulldogs dominate list

The high school basketball season has come to a close for all the schools in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference with the exception of the Greensburg Pirates.

So it does not come as a surprise the Pirates landed four players on the all-conference team, including the most valuable player. The Batesville Bulldogs had an impressive run as well this season and received the second most recipients.

Northwestern University recruit Bryant McIntosh was voted the conference’s top player. Joining him on the all-conference team are Pirates Sean Sellers, Ryan Welage and Colin Rigney.

Based on games players within the conference, McIntosh was No. 1 in assists with an average of 9.6 in seven games. He was seventh in scoring (11.7 ppg) and fifth in free throw shooting (76 percent). Sellers was second in scoring (19 ppg), second in field goal percentage (65.3) and fourth in free throw shooting (80.7). Welage led the league in field goal shooting at 74.5 percent and was third in scoring (14.4 ppg).

The Batesville Bulldogs placed second in the conference and had three players on the list. Junior Bryan Hoeing was second in the most valuable player voting to lead the BHS contingent. Wesley McKinney and Blake Walsman were also honored among the EIAC’s 12 best players.

Hoeing led the conference in scoring averaging 21.4 points a game and steals (2.6). Hoeing was second in free throw shooting (83.3 percent) and third in rebounding (7.7).

Rounding out the 12 player roster were Cameron Cox (Rushville), Dezmen Rent (Connersville), Hunter Kammer (East Central), Skyler McCook (Franklin County) and Alex Yurack (Rushville).
