Lady Bulldogs net 5-0 win over Connersville

BATESVILLE — It was a good start to the tennis season for the Batesville Lady Bulldogs.

Batesville opened on the road at Connersville and returned with a 5-0 win at the varsity level.

Senior Ellen Heppner led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-0 and 6-3 victory over sophomore Sarah Wilhoite.

Lydia Olsen made her varsity debut with a convincing 6-0 and 6-0 win over Connersville’s Hannah Shelton at No. 2 singles. Sarah Hoseus followed closely with a 6-2 and 6-0 win at No. 3.

The No. 1 doubles team of Emily Helvie and Ali Meyer were easy winners. The senior duo defeated Caitlin Boggs and Ashlee Wiley 6-0 and 6-2.

Brooke Bradford and Kelli Hartman teamed up at No. 2 doubles to knock off Jenna Nobbe and Carlie Tinch by the scores of 6-1 and 6-4.

The Batesville junior varsity was a perfect 4-0 over the Lady Spartans.

Emily Shaw (8-5) and Gabby Cooper (8-4) were winners in singles play. Macy Simon and Jenna Harmeyer (8-5) won at doubles as did Grace Heppner and Karsen Worthington (8-0).
