The East Central Lady Trojan tennis team traveled to Milan on Wednesday to open up the girls tennis season.
“It was nice for the weather to break and with a lot of sun and little wind the playing conditions were a lot better then they have been over the past two weeks,” EC coach Scott Kluener commented.
Senior Abby Sweeney led the charge for EC at first singles with a 6-1 and 6-1 win over senior Rachel Smith 6-1 6-1.
Senior Conner Struewing kept pace with Sweeney at two singles as she beat Hannah Mulroy 6-1 and 6-3.
Finishing off at third singles was junior Alyssa Defiglio with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory over Autumn Bowling.
The duo of Kelly Weigel and Clare Struewing return at the No. 1 doubles spot and quickly got back to work where they left off last year in the State Doubles Finals by defeating Maria Voss and Shelby Tippitt 6-0 and 6-3.
Completing the sweep for the Lady Trojans at No. 2 doubles were Claire Kern and Abby Ashton. They took care of business 6-0 and 6-3 over Dakota Stites and Izzy Orte.
