BHS swims past Milan Indians

The Batesville High School girls swam past the host Milan Indians by a score of 127-41 and improved to 17-5 on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs won 9-of-11 events en route to the victory.

Taylor Villani was a double winner in her individual events and scored the maximum 16 points possible in a dual meet. She won the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Hanna Cox (100 butterfly), Sarah Espin (500 free), Emily Gutzwiller (100 breaststroke) and Elizabeth Weiler (200 IM) each won their individual events.

Lydia Olsen swam to a career best time in the 50 yard freestyle.

Batesville swept four of the eight individual events - going 1-2-3. Those events included 200 IM (Elizabeth Weiler, Espin, Hatcher), 50 freestyle (Villani, Hall, Poltrack), 100 fly (Cox, Elizabeth Weiler, Ritter), and 500 freestyle (Espin, Emily Weiler, Caplinger).

The Batesville boys posted a dual meet victory against Milan.

Thomas Hatcher posted the fourth fastest time ever in the 100 yard breaststroke and won the event along with the 50 yard freestyle.

Matt Weiler was also a double winner in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events.

Graham Hunter (100 freestyle), Jacob Hawkins (100 yard butterfly) and Seth Parker (100 yard backstroke) were first place winners.

Second place honors went to Parker (IM), Clayton McKinley (50 free/100 free), Kegan Main (100 fly), Evan Miller (500 free), and Ben Schwettman (100 back).

Damien Pelo took third place in the 200 free and 100 breast as did Drake Main (100 back), Hawkins (500 free), Zach Hall (100 free), Hunter (100 free) and Miller (200 IM).

Elliot Main won both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events in the junior varsity heats. Drake Main (100 free/100 back), Elliot Main (50 free/100 free), Harsh Patel (50 free), and Pelo (200 free) each posted personal best times in their respective events.

Batesville improved to 14-5 on the season.
