Bulldogs swim past OA and Milan

Matt Weiler became just the sixth male swimmer to ever score 1,000 points for Batesville High School and helped the Bulldogs defeat Oldenburg Academy and the host Milan Indians.

Batesville finished with 152 points, which was well ahead the Twisters (76) and Indians (63).

Batesville won 9-of-11 events en route to the victory.

Weiler (50 freestyle/100 breaststroke) and Thomas Hatcher (200 IM/100 fly) were double winners for the Bulldogs.

In the closest race of the evening Graham Hunter edged out teammate Evan Miller by just .13 to win the 200 yard freestyle.

Weiler edged Oldenburg Academy’s John Pelzel by just .14 to take the 50 yard freestyle title, while Hatcher finished ahead Pelzel in the 100 yard butterfly. Keegan Main was third.

The lone individual win for the Twisters was recorded by Ben Wanstrah in the 100-yard freestyle. He finished ahead of Batesville’s Hunter and Clayton McKinley.

Jacob Hawkins was third in the 200 IM, while Miller and Seth Parker went 2-3 in the 500 freestyle. In the 100 backstroke Hawkins and Parker went 1-2, followed by Wanstrath.

Weiler and Damien Pelo went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke. Weiler missed the school record by just .20.
