BHS girls swim to victory

Batesville boys suffer late loss

---- — The Batesville High School girls were easy winners over Shelbyville and the boys’ outcome came down to the final event.

The Lady Bulldogs posted a 101-68 victory over Shelbyville and improved to 4-2 on the season.

Emily Gutzwiller and Elizabeth Weiler set the pace for the Lady Bulldogs with a pair of individual titles each. Gutzwiller placed first in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 freestyle. Weiler claimed first place honors in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Hannah Cox (100 butterfly) was also an individual event winner.

The Batesville boys were defeated 88-82 by the Golden Bears and fell to 1-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs had a pair swimmers notch two individual victories.

Thomas Hatcher was a winner in the 100 yard butterfly and 500 freestyle, while Matt Weiler won the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Individual improvements made at the meet were accomplished by Cox (100 fly), Armando Canseco (50 free and 100 free), Lauren Caplinger (200 IM), Gutzwiller (200 IM and 100 free), Nathan Hall (100 fly), Zach Hall (50 free), Hatcher (500 free), Jacob Hawkins (50 back split), Graham Hunter (200 free), Jonathan Kunkel (100 free), Drake Main (100 free), Kegan Main (50 free), Evan Miller (200 IM), Lydia Olsen (50 free and 100 free), Seth Parker (50 back split), Harsh Patel (100 back), Sarah Poltrack (50 free and 100 back), Ally Ritter (200 free/ and 500 free), Caleb Rogers (50 free), Ben Schwettman (50 free), Maggie Schwettman (100 breast) and Taylor Villani (50 free).
