---- — The Batesville High School wrestling team is struggling with injuries. The injuries limited coach Chris Deal’s ability to field a full line-up in four matches held Saturday.
The Bulldogs traveled to Rushville for their annual 5-way meet with Centerville, Connersville and Tri High.
As result of the injuries, the Bulldogs were forced to give up 12-18 points per match, according to Deal.
Despite the obstacles, the Bulldogs were able to beat Tri High by a score of 54-30 and kept two of the other three matches relatively close.
Connersville was the overall winner of the tournament. The Spartans defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 51-27. Centerville was just three points better than the Bulldogs at 42-39. Rushville posted a 48-34 win over the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs were led by Ben Westerfeld and Michael Deal. Both wrestlers finished the day undefeated in four matches.
Three time winners for the Bulldogs were John Kurtz, Neal Nobbe, Will Amberger and Jarett Hooten.
Trevor Gartenman, John Moody and Zach Strub each won two matches, while Levi Nordmeyer won once.
The Bulldogs are now 6-5 on the season.
