Lady Twisters beat Waldron 58-33

BATESVILLE — The Oldenburg Academy girls varsity basketball team made short work of Waldron before Christmas break.

The Lady Twisters defeated host Waldron 58-33.

“This was the best game I have seen our kids play in years,” OA head coach Dan Kerker commented. “We shot 48 percent from the field, 100 percent from line and committed only nine turnovers, while grabbing 39 rebounds.”

Oldenburg outscored the Lady Mohawks in each of the first three quarter breaks to take a 41-24 lead into the final eight minutes.

The Lady Twisters were led by Cora Weisenbach with 12 points, while Anna Dickman and Ella Lamping each had 10. Brianna Tindall was next in line with eight points.

Lamping recorded her third double-double of the season with a team-high 15 rebounds. Rachel Fairfield was second on the team with eight boards.

Waldron (2-9) was led in scoring by Caitlin Hedman with 23 points.

The Lady Twisters suffered a pair of losses at the Cascade Tournament held Dec. 28.

Oldenburg was defeated 44-42 in the opening round by host Cascade.

Despite fouling out with over five minutes to play in the game, Lamping led the Lady Twisters with 10 points and 17 rebounds.

Kirsten Ricke led the team in scoring with 16 points.

Oldenburg fell in the consolation game 37-23 to Hagerstown.

Ricke had a team-high 11 points followed by Lamping with five.

“We are on the right track now and need to continue to play with intensity on both ends of the floor,” Kerker commented. “ The kids have responded well  despite  our losses.”

The Lady Twisters are now 2-6 on the season.
