The weather cooperated and the competition was good Tuesday night at Batesville High School for the annual Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference cross country meet.
The Batesville Lady Bulldogs came away with a slim five point victory over East Central. The Greensburg Lady Pirates were a close third just 12 points behind the Lady Bulldogs.
“With a couple of other teams in the conference running very well right now and with one of our top runners, Abbie Krieg, out due to injury, there was no guarantee that we would take conference, BHS head coach Steve Yeaton commented. “Senior Olivia Mobley really stepped up for us running her best race of the season to help us secure the victory.”
The Lady Bulldogs had three runners place in the top 10 10 to earn all-conference honors. The team was led by Kelsey Gausman in second place and Hannah Lehfeldt in fourth. Freshman Maria Wessel was ninth.
Mobley was fourth on the team finishing and 21st overall followed by Elizabeth Cuttle (23), Breanna Hartman (25) and Jordan Lowery (27).
Batesville also took the top four spots in the reserve race. Sydney Prickel turned in a personal best time of 24:30 followed by Hannah Rogers (2), Lauren Eckstein (3), and Shelby Coleman (4).
Next up for the Batesville girls is the sectional meet at South Dearborn on Tuesday.
